The first meeting of BNN Paediatrics was held on 13 September in Oxford. It was an excellent start to establishing a national multi-disciplinary group of paediatric injectors for tone management. We joined the main BNN meeting and officially lauched the Paediatrics affiliation.
This promises to be a great network, with loads of ideas on how we can best integrate, improve and expand services, as well as look at providing extra training, data collection, research and much more.
Our speakers covered a wide range of topics providing a sense on how different services are working as well as the variety we have on pathways, injection techniques, population seen, therapy post injection and other areas.
I believe this group will have much to share to help services develop, improve and to have links between them.
Some actions that we had from the meeting were:
– Work towards closer liaison with HEI providing injection therapy course to ensure paediatric topics are included
– To have a workshop around March 2020 to provide training in areas of need (Ultrasound guided injections is a potential one)
– Changes on BNN Paediatrics website to allow members to have access to a password protected chat/blog so we can talk between group members
– To create a database on the website to collect data for research and also to support our group with evidence based data.
– To have further meeting either by region or webinars to support services and support newly qualified injectors.
It is a lot of work! But all very exciting and promising to be a great support to all Paediatrics injectors!
